What is the significance of the data feed? |
|
Answer: Equity and Futures traders are used to prices being the same at any given time regardless of which firm they are trading through or charting provider they are using and often assume the same holds true for spot FX. Because the spot FX market is decentralized meaning it lacks a single exchange where all transactions are conducted each FX dealer (market maker) may quote slightly different prices on their markets. Therefore, any prices displayed by a third party charting provider, which does not employ the market maker's data feed, will reflect indicative prices and not necessarily dealing prices.
Market watchers, such as S&P or ESignal, compile indicative quotes as a proxy for the actual market movement. These prices are derived from a host of contributors such as banks and clearing firms, which may or may not reflect where FXCM's market is.
Please note that the charting packages that employ the FXCM data feed will reflect prices that mirror the prices in the FX Trading Station's dealing rates window.

Why pay for professional charting packages? |
|
Answer: The more serious you are about trading, the more serious you need to be about charting. For active traders, charts are everything, as a good charting package can offer traders all they need to successfully participate in the market: |
|
- View and save multiple charts and their layouts
- Access a wide range of technical indicators to gauge direction and momentum.
- Have programmable alerts notify you of key market moves.
- Export data to MS Excel to conduct statistical analyses.
Charts are not a purchase, which is an investment to improve your returns in trading.

What is the difference between Desktop charts and FXtrek Intellicharts? |
|
Answer: FXtrek Desktop offers all the functionalities of FXtrek professional (online version) and much more. FXtrek Desktop is one of the most advanced charting software packages available. The Desktop is operated on a Window-based platform rather than a server-based system. This creates a safer, faster, and more reliable platform for charting. This platform is intuitive and user friendly, and allows easy one-click printing and settings customization.
The desktop has a main menu control with functions for the overall Desktop software, rather than individual charts. This effectively saves the time it takes to switch between screens. The user has the ability to customize time frames and group different charts together for comparisons.
The FXtrek Desktop also has digital data exporting capabilities, where the user can export and download data from the charts to their personal system. Desktop offers the most comprehensive suite of technical indicators that can be combined to create a more thorough analysis.
Desktop users have the opportunity to choose between two data feed providers: S&P Comstock and FXCM. Due to the global nature of the FX market, Desktop users have the option of choosing their time zone and choosing support in other languages.
